G8 Explore Oregon: Silver Falls State Park
Our Family of 10 recently decided to start a YouTube Channel and re-start our blog. Our first video of our new Graves8 Family Adventure series (get it 8 kids....last name Graves) anyway, was a day trip to Silver Creek Falls.
Silver Creek Falls is a very popular natural attraction in Oregon. Although the park has been busy every time we've visited, they are equipped for many, many people, with several parking lots, a restaurant, visitor center, campground, 8 miles of hiking trails with two trail-heads, one at either end, and more. Never once has it felt crowded or have we been turned away because they were full.

Silver Creek Falls is a very popular natural attraction in Oregon. Although the park has been busy every time we've visited, they are equipped for many, many people, with several parking lots, a restaurant, visitor center, campground, 8 miles of hiking trails with two trail-heads, one at either end, and more. Never once has it felt crowded or have we been turned away because they were full.
The main attraction?
Giant falls that you can walk behind. It is a breathtaking experience, and something you don't want to pass by when you come to Oregon. There is a parking pass required. You can find the rates here.
But That's Not All!
- The Oregon State Park boast more than 35 miles of back-country trails for mountain biking, hiking or horseback riding.
- The Trail of Ten Falls which, as it's name suggests, passes 10 waterfalls. It is a little more than 7.2 mile loop and a moderate hike, with a total elevation change of 800 feet & 4 falls you can walk behind.
- The park also has several large picnic areas, a playground, horseshoe pits, a restaurant, a bike trail that connects the camp ground to the south trailhead, a lodge, and an off lead area for dogs. Note - DOGS ARE NOT ALLOWED on the canyon trail, so if you want to bring a four legged friend be sure you call to find out what trails are available for use with him.

What's Nearby?
The lovely town of Silverton is nearby. It's a small town with a population of about 10,000 but they have a very lively downtown with restaurants, wineries, antique shopping, brewpubs and more. The Oregon Gardens are just outside of Silverton as well. We will have a blog post & video up by the end of 2017 about the gardens but for now, check them out on their website.
