G8 Explore Oregon Coast: Newport, Yaquina Head National Park, Devil's Punch Bowl & Cape Meares
We love the Oregon Coast!
Everything about it from the majestic views, to the moody weather, to the many accomodating State Parks and National Parks. There is so much to explore at the Oregon Coast it can be hard to decide where to visit. This Blog shares some great places to visit on the central portion of the coast from Newport to Tillamook. You'll find a video at the bottom of the page that follows our family on our adventures to all the locations mentioned.
We started of at Agate Beach near Newport Oregon where the kids spent hours playing on the beach. Although we didn't spend any time in the town nearby, it's a great place with cute little shops and everything you need for the beach from kites to sweaters.
Next we moved onto Yaquina Head National Park. It cost $7 to get in and all the activities inside are free. They have an amazing Interpretive Center, Light House Tours, Tide Pools, trails to hike, and gray whales live off shore.
Our kids also completed the Junior Ranger Program at this park. National Parks offer an amazing junior ranger program. It's educational and normally free. Learn more here.
And did you know, 4th GRADE KIDS GET A FREE NATIONAL PARKS PASS. Learn more here.
From here we visited the Devils Punch Bowl and Cape Meares where we saw the Octopus Tree, amazing views, and the cutest lighthouse ever. Click the location names above for more information about visiting.
